Halloween menu at the Old Times Bar
Nowadays everyone knows Halloween, the All Saints‘ Eve on the 31st of October! All Saints‘ Day, how many would be mistaken to believe, does not come from America, it comes from the ancient Irish Celts, who believed that on this day the dead would be returning to the earth's surface and the living ones could visit the underworld.
Celtic households would set the dinner table for themselves as well as the deceased. Halloween traditions have its roots deep in history, dating back to the 5th century BC. Carved pumpkins with scary faces also descend from Celtic traditions, although earlier they used to carve beets or potatoes and it wasn’t until later in time that the burning coals have been replaced by candles. Either way, the light should shine for the dead on the way to their loved ones.
The Old Times Bar at the hotel has prepared a special Halloween menu for all its guests in the period from 15.10. until 15.11.2016, compiled in honor of the autumn vegetable, which became famous thanks to Halloween. Which in this case is of course the pumpkin. Come and enjoy:
• Steak of Foie Gras with Pumpkin Jelly and Homemade Toast
• Pumpkin Cream with Delicate Vegetables and Pumpkin Oil
• Pumpkin Risotto with Grilled Scallops and Parmesan Shavings
• Chicken Supreme with Pumpkin Ragout and Homemade Potato Croquettes
• Pumpkin Ravioli Filled with Creamy Goat Cheese Espuma
• Pumpkin Muffin with Cherry Coulis and Creamy Panna Cotta
